(The Venerable Dr. Dhammapiya)

 The Ven. Dr. Dhammapiya was born at Hazachari on 15 June 1971 in Tripura, India. This young charismatic monk was religious minded from his early childhood and was determined to lead a monastic life. He grew up with a soft heart but is full of love and compassion. This drew him to live in a monastic Institution when he learned all the tenants of spiritual th awakening and was finally ordained on the 6 of December 1989.

After completing his basic school education he left for Bombay for higher education. Before he proceeded to the commercial capital of the Country he toured the places visiting Assam, Sikkim, Bhutan, Nepal, Arunachal Pradesh and Aurangabad with Senior Buddhist monks and religious scholars. During this time he had detailed analytical discussions and attended discussions and seminars on different aspects of life with them. This brought about a spiritual awakening in his life. He graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Philosophy from Bombay's Wilson College in 1995 and then went on to the University of st st Hyderabad and secured 1 class 1 in his Master Degree in Philosophy. He was also awarded a Ph.D degree from the University of Bombay in 2001. After which he had the Honour and Privilege to Visit tour Buddhist Institutions in for flung areas outside our country like Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Sri Lanka and other South East Asian Countries giving exposing him to a wider audience.

During his stay in the city of Hyderabad local people made several requests to establish a Buddhist Monastery there. Here he initiated a project to set up a Buddhist cultural complex in the City. Presently, it is in progress and taken care of by the Ven. Khemachara Bhikkhu, the younger brother of Guruji. After returning to his native place , many people including renowned official of his tribe and officials and ministers of the state facilitated him and requested the Honorable Guruji to remain back and do something for the poor disadvantaged community in Tripura. His love and compassion which knew no bounds for the underprivileged tribal's and other backward community instilled a sense of moral obligation to return the debt to his beloved state of Tripura. This is how he returned to his 'roots'. He believed that education is the backbone for further development and with this came on upward change of the community and society. With his overflowing love and compassion he began a school project.

The Dhamma Dipa School for the children of disadvantaged tribal's and other backward communities. He founded the Bahujana Hitaya Education Trust, a non-profit charitable association to run the school. The Government of Tripura has also recruited him as an Assistant Professor and Principal of the Government Degree College at Sabroom, South Tripura. Besides afore mentioned description he is also the Chairman of Bahujana Hitaya Education Trust. As the Chairman, he has dedicated his life for the cause of Serving Humanity and is a Spiritual Guide and religious leader for the masses of his society and the people he has come in contact well.
